Appleby East & West are female-only residence halls and often referred to as Clusters along with Hawthorne & Covington. These residence halls are set up in a suite style, with four people sharing a suite (or mini-cluster). Each suite is comprised of two single rooms and a double room with a separate private toilet area and bath/shower area. There are three mini-clusters within a cluster and 12 residents share a common area living space and kitchen. Appleby East and West Halls each house 74 students including our four Panhellenic Sororities. The first floor of each hall is available to residents of any academic classification.

Three suites (or mini-clusters) share a common living space which is furnished with couches, a table, and a television. This configuration is often referred to as a wing (or cluster).
Appleby East and West Halls are located next to the Varsity Tennis Courts and are a close walk to many academic buildings.
Vending Machines located on the Ground Floor or Basement floor depending on the building.
Other Information
Freshmen and Upperclassmen females may reside on the 1st floors of Appleby East & Appleby West. The 2nd and 3rd floors house UNA's four panhellenic sororities (upperclassmen members only).
Individual thermostats are located in each suite to ensure optimum comfort for the residents residing there.
All residential students are required to have a meal plan. Please see UNA Dining for additional options.

Covington is an 92-bed residence hall and is often referred to as a Cluster, along with Hawthorne, Appleby East, and Appleby West. These residence halls are set up in a suite style, with four people sharing a suite (or mini-cluster). Each suite is comprised of two single rooms and a double room with a separate private toilet area and bath/shower area. There are three mini-clusters within a cluster and 12 residents share a common area living space and kitchen.

Building Features
24 Hour Card Access on all main entrance doors and entry doors to each wing.
Video surveillance on all main entrance and emergency exit doors as well as the ground floor lobby and emergency exits.
Communal kitchen in each cluster. Kitchens have a full-size refrigerator and stove/oven and are shared by all members of the cluster. Residents are encouraged to provide their own mini-fridge for private use.
Laundry facilities are typically located on the first, second and third floors.
Three suites (or mini-clusters) share a common living space, which is furnished with couches, a table, and a television. This configuration is often referred to as a wing (or cluster).
Covington Hall is located in close proximity to Mane Market, Create, the Student Recreation Center, and the parking structure.
Vending Machines located on the Ground Floor or Basement floor depending on the building.
Other Information
Individual thermostats are located in each suite to ensure optimum comfort for the residents residing there.
All residential students are required to have a meal plan. Please see UNA Dining for additional options.
Room Features
Each suite is equipped with a private bathroom which is to be maintained by the residents occupying that space. This space consists of a shower and toilet area with a sink located in the primary entrance way. Cleaning guidelines may be found HERE.

Hawthorne is an 92-bed residence hall and is often referred to as a Cluster along with Covington, Appleby East, and Appleby West. These residence halls are set up in a suite style, with four people sharing a suite (or mini-cluster). Each suite is comprised of two single rooms and a double room with a separate private toilet area and bath/shower area. There are three mini-clusters within a cluster and 12 residents share a common area living space and kitchen.

Building Features
24 Hour Card Access on all main entrance doors and entry doors to each wing.
Video surveillance on all main entrance and emergency exit doors as well as the ground floor lobby and emergency exits.
Communal kitchen in each cluster. Kitchens have a full-size refrigerator and stove/oven and are shared by all members of the cluster. Residents are encouraged to provide their own mini-fridge for private use.
Laundry facilities are typically located on the first, second and third floors.
Three suites (or mini-clusters) share a common living space, which is furnished with couches, a table, and a television. This configuration is often referred to as a wing (or cluster).
Hawthorne and Covington Hall are located in close proximity to Mane Market, Create, the Student Recreation Center and the parking structure.
Vending Machines located on the Ground Floor or Basement floor depending on the building.
Other Information
Individual thermostats are located in each suite to ensure optimum comfort for the residents residing there.
All residential students are required to have a meal plan. Please see UNA Dining for additional options.
Room Features
Each suite is equipped with a private bathroom which is to be maintained by the residents occupying that space. This space consists of a shower and toilet area with a sink located in the primary entrance way. Cleaning guidelines may be found HERE.

Mattielou Hall opened in August 2015 and houses 334 residents on four floors. Mattielou is co-ed by room and open to students of all academic classifications. It is located on the north end of campus across from the band practice field.

Order of Omega is a leadership honor society for fraternity and sorority members. The Eta Omega chapter of Order of Omega was chartered at UNA on April 22, 1987.

Order of Omega membership is limited; we are only able to initiate 5% of the total number of fraternity and sorority members at the beginning of the fall semester. However, we typically split this number and hold initiations twice a year- once in the spring and once in the fall. Those meeting the minimum standards, a junior or senior with a cumulative GPA above the all Greek average, receive an invitation to apply. Applications are scored based on fraternity and sorority involvement, community service, GPA, and campus involvement.

Order of Omega nationally offers undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships to members.

ABOUT
Pi Delta Phi is the National French Honor Society for undergraduate and graduate students at accredited public and private colleges and universities in the United States. The highest academic honor in the field of French and the oldest academic honor society for a modern foreign language in the United States, Pi Delta Phi was founded as a departmental honor society at the University of California at Berkeley in 1906. The Society was nationalized when the Beta Chapter was established at the University of Southern California in 1925. The society was admitted to membership in the Association of College Honor Societies® (ACHS) in 1967, and was officially endorsed by the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) as the only collegiate French honor society in 1949. There are currently more than 400 chapters of the Society in the United States and two representative chapters at the American Universities in Paris and Aix-en-Provence in France.

Rho Lambda is a national sorority leadership recognition society. UNA previously had an active Rho Lambda in the early 2000s, that then went inactive for some time. The organization became active again at UNA in Fall 2019.

Rho Lambda is open to sorority women who are juniors or seniors and have a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Rho Lambda membership is limited; we are only able to initiate 10% of the total number of sorority members at the beginning of the fall semester. However, we will split this number and hold initiations twice a year - once in the spring and once in the fall.

Rice Hall is an 6-story, 320-bed residence hall that also serves as home to Student Counseling Services and Mitchell-West Center for Social Inclusion. It is adjacent to Mane Market which is the residential dining hall. Rice Hall is co-ed by floor and is a community-style building.

24 Hour Card Access on all main entrance and ground floor stairwell doors.
Video surveillance on all main entrance and emergency exit doors as well as the ground floor lobby.
Communal bathrooms are located on each floor, which is cleaned daily by Environmental Services. These bathrooms consist of showers and toilets, all with privacy enclosures, plus sink areas with mirrors at each sink.
Communal kitchen and vending machines are located on the Mezzanine.
Laundry facilities and an ice machine are located on the Mezzanine.

Sigma Tau Delta is an international English honor society. The aim of the society is to promote a mastery of written expression, to encourage worthwhile reading, and to foster a spirit of good fellowship among students of the English language and literature. The society is an outgrowth of the English Club at the Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota. Plans worked out for the local group there met the approval of heads of the departments of English in other institutions, and resulted in the nationalization of the order, under its present name, in 1924. There are at present 400 chapters of Sigma Tau Delta. Theta Delta Chapter at Florence State Teacher's College, now the University of North Alabama, received its charter on February 2, 1936.

The Society for Collegiate Journalists is a National Society of Collegiate Mass Communications. SCJ was formed when Pi Delta Epsilon, founded in 1909, and Alpha Phi Gamma, founded in 1919, merged in 1975.

The Mission of the Swim Club @ UNA is to welcome all members who have an interest in swimming, either for fitness or competition, to encourage development of the athlete's fullest potential. We want to empower young people to be champions and leaders, in and out of the water, for a lifetime.

Membership Benefits
Travel to compete against other collegiate swim clubs. All levels welcome as long as a 50 yard safety test is completed. Members learn to work together, training and coaching, forming friendships amongst the diverse student body at UNA. Get a workout 3 times per week with new found friends!
