The Council for Interior Architecture & Design (CIAD) is a student led organization that encourages the pre-professional growth and industry involvement of students interested in the fields related to interior architecture and design. CIAD acts as the organizational principal for the other related industry professional student memberships offered, including the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA).

The Student Nighttime Auxiliary Patrol (SNAP) was implemented to provide safe, nighttime transportation on the University of North Alabama campus. Department emphasis is on giving students the opportunity to develop ethical communication competency through academic and artistic performance, study, internships and co-curricular involvement in university, professional, and community activities. Faculty and department administration are expected to contribute to this student mission through academic leadership, quality teaching and advising, and participation in scholarship, creative presentation, and community projects of local and global significance.
